Whey-fed pork, naturally raised on pasture and woodlands.

We raise “happy” hogs that free range on the pasture where they graze like our cattle and sheep or wallow in the mud to stay cool. In addition to grazing, they also range in their natural environment – the woods – where they eat nuts, roots, and underbrush. We feed also feed them whey we obtain from a local dairy and their diet includes a locally milled feed. We never use growth hormones or antibiotics.

What is whey? Whey is part of cheese making. To make cheese, you separate the curds from the whey. The curds are then pressed into cheese and the whey is many times simply discarded. Whey, though, is dense in nutrients and a very healthy addition to the diet for some livestock (and people). Not only does feeding whey to our hogs promote healthier hogs, but it also gives the pork a much richer flavor. Because of this, whey-fed pork is actively sought by many gourmet restaurants.
